Hi! So, next week we enter into the month of September – how crazy is that? I’m not sure I’m ready to pack up summer and put it on a shelf. Before we head into the busy fall season, I am going to try my best to enjoy these next few weeks! Labor Day weekend is coming up, and it’s always nice to have that extra day built into the weekend to hang out with family. I hope you have something fun you’re looking forward to before the summer ends.

Speaking of fun, let’s meet another one of my awesome editors! This post will feature the very first editor I ever hired, Madelyn. This will be the fifth post in the “Meet the Editor” series. If you’d like to read the other four posts, you can find them here. After three years of working with Madelyn, I was finally able to meet her in person, which was so great. It felt so good to hang out with her and get to know her on a more personal level, outside of a phone call or Zoom meeting.

I could go on and on about all of my incredible editors, but it’s time to get to know Madelyn. She’s a recently converted Cali girl who loves the color purple. Let’s dive into what makes Madelyn so special!

Madelyn Smith – Photo Editor

Madelyn currently lives in Los Angeles but recently moved there from Chicago in 2021. Before she lived in the Windy City, she lived in her home state of Indiana. While in Chicago, she launched her photography business, where she shot over 90 weddings! While being a wedding photographer certainly was fun, she found that what she truly enjoyed was editing the photos. In 2019, she joined my team and now has a full-time client load.

Aside from work, Madelyn enjoys hanging out with her fiance, Nathan, and their cat Luna. They stay busy as they are planning their 2023 wedding which will take place in Madelyn’s hometown, South Bend, IN. Her perfect weekend would include sleeping in, going on a hike, grabbing brunch, cooking dinner with Nathan, and settling in for the night with a movie. Madelyn has big dreams of visiting Iceland, Spain, and Italy – which she and Nathan plan on visiting on their honeymoon next year. In her travel bag, you’d find jalapeno lime chips and Starbursts for a travel snack. She is a self-proclaimed perfectionist, and I can personally attest to that as I work with her every week. I also got a glimpse into her workflow while on our editor’s retreat and my mind was blown by her attention to detail (she literally had a time block that said “shower”). Last but not least, you must know that Madelyn loves the color purple!

Madelyn, you have been an incredible asset to my team. It’s been a joy working alongside you for the last few years, and I can’t wait to continue our working relationship and friendship!
