First Quarter Updates

Happy Thursday, friends! Can you believe last week was already the end of the first quarter of the year?? Okay, so I know that in business, TECHNICALLY the first quarter is January-March, but I like to go by quarterly tax time. It’s just easier to keep track of 🙂 My head is still reeling over all of the things that have been going on over here over the last few weeks. This was — by far — been my busiest Quarter 1 to date! As of last Tuesday, I have edited 33 catalogs totaling 33,044 edited images this year! That’s incredible, especially considering this was supposed to be my off-season. Quarter 2 is looking even crazier this year. I have 24 weddings in May and 28 in June that I’m looking forward to. Hopefully, I’ll survive this busy season! Now on to some important updates:

The Photo Editor’s Retreat

Sadly, I have decided to postpone The Photo Editor’s Retreat. There was a lot of interest, but a lot of the feedback I received is that it was scheduled during a very busy time of year. To say I’m not disappointed would be a lie, but I have not given up on doing a retreat in the future. This was a project I was (and still am) very excited about, and I am really hopeful that I can make it happen sometime in the future! I know this is something that the photo editing industry desperately needs, and I promise I am going to try again next year.

Goals & Big Dreams

Education for private photo editors is something that I think is really lacking in the photo editing industry just because it’s still fairly new. When I started my business over 3 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. There weren’t any courses or workshops to help me along the way. I promised myself that one day, I would make an effort to help new photo editors so they wouldn’t have to struggle like I did during my first year. (That first year of business was brutal, y’all…)

Something that’s been in the works for about a year now some serious education for small business owners and private photo editors. A few months ago, I launched an education page on my site full of free educational resources. This was just a taste of what has been going on behind-the-scenes for quite some time now. In just a few short weeks, I’m going to launch an online shop that is full of incredible educational resources specifically for private photo editors! One of the projects is something HUGE, and I am so eager to share it with you. However, you’re going to have to wait a little longer 🙂 Any guesses as to what it might be?

Along with this shop opening, I’ll be opening up a limited number of seats for mentoring and coaching students! Mentoring and coaching is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time now. I am SO excited to start working with private photo editors one-on-one! If you’re interested in being one of the first people to know when seats open up, you can get on the mentoring or coaching waitlists. If you want to know about my shop opening or other important updates, you can subscribe to the newsletter.

Next Week

Next week on the blog, I’m sharing a guest post from photographer and private photo editor, Kegan Marie. She’ll be talking about what it’s like to be a small business owner working at home while raising kids. I can’t wait for you to read this feature, so make sure you check out the blog next Wednesday!
