Recap: Our Trip to Bald Head Island 2018
Yikes! I’m two months late on this post, but I’m really excited to share it with you today. Now that I’m through my busy season, I FINALLY had a chance to go through and edit all of our May vacation pictures.
If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know that every year, we take an annual trip to Bald Head Island with my family for a week. This trip was another great one for the books! We made so many wonderful new memories of the place we all consider a home-away-from-home.
The week before we left, the weather was predicted to be rainy all week. We lucked out, though, because we only had one morning of rain with one or two evening showers. The temperature was just right, and the beach was perfection! It was the first trip in a few years where ALL of the siblings & significant others were able to come, so it was a really special time for us! It was especially great because my brother Zack and his wife Victoria are leaving in just a few weeks to spend a year doing research in Africa, and we probably won’t be seeing them until they get back. Needless to say, this trip meant a lot to everyone!
Our Trip
Just as we did last year, we stayed at the Carolina Cottage — a perfect place for us, really. It has enough beds to accommodate our massive family, a view of the beach, and a giant kitchen for us to cook meals in. In the past we’ve stayed at houses that have had terribly small kitchens, and it’s just not super ideal for a group of 10. Not to mention, the Carolina Cottage has UNC-themed golf carts. For a family with 2 UNC grads and 2 UNC employees — it’s definitely the perfect place for us 🙂
The fun new thing the boys did this year was invest in some pretty amazing Hawaiian shirts, and I must admit that they do NOT disappoint. They were hilarious, and the boys took every opportunity to be completely ridiculous in them! They wore those shirts everyday, much to our dismay. After day 2, the girls had to start making sure those things ended up in the laundry because…gross.
Overall, this year was really great. Then again, it always is at Bald Head 🙂 I’m already counting down the days until we head back to the island again! I hope you enjoy the pictures from our trip below!
Tegan then decided she needed a picture with EVERYONE. It was so adorable 🙂
